600mm × 600mm Square Edge Ceiling Tiles

Shop 600mm × 600mm square edge ceiling tiles for new suspended ceilings and replacement projects. Also known as board-edge or lay-in tiles, these tiles have a straight edge that rests on an exposed ceiling grid, leaving the grid visible between panels.

What Is a Square Edge Ceiling Tile?

A square-edge tile has a plain, straight perimeter without the stepped rebate found on a tegular tile. It sits on the supporting grid flanges and can usually be lifted out for access above the ceiling, provided there is sufficient clearance and no retaining system prevents removal.

When replacing tiles, match the edge profile, actual dimensions, thickness and surface finish. Two tiles described as 600 × 600 can have different edge details and may not give the same fit or appearance.

Are 600 × 600 Ceiling Tiles Actually 595 × 595mm?

Many square-edge tiles sold as 600mm × 600mm measure approximately 595mm × 595mm. The advertised size refers to the ceiling grid module, while the slightly smaller tile allows clearance for fitting.

Check the individual product specification before ordering. For replacements, measure an existing tile rather than relying only on its nominal size.

Choosing Tiles for Your Ceiling Grid

• Grid compatibility: check the manufacturer's stated suitability for your grid, including its 15mm or 24mm face width. Size alone does not confirm compatibility.
• Room requirements: compare sound absorption, humidity resistance and cleaning guidance for the specific product.
• Appearance: match the colour, texture and thickness as closely as possible when replacing part of an existing ceiling.
• Pack quantity: box quantities vary between products, so compare the stated coverage as well as the box price.

How Many Square Edge Tiles Do I Need?

Each 600 × 600mm grid module covers 0.36m². Divide your ceiling area in square metres by 0.36 for an initial tile estimate, then allow for your layout, perimeter cuts and spare tiles. Round up to full boxes using the quantity stated on your chosen product.
