Knauf Mediguard Plain Tegular24 600mm x 600mm Ceiling Tiles - Box of 16
Knauf Mediguard Plain Tegular24 ceiling tiles combine a smooth, anti-microbial surface with a rebated edge designed for 24mm exposed suspended ceiling grid. Developed for hygiene-sensitive environments, they provide a clean white finish for healthcare facilities, laboratories and other commercial spaces where cleaning and maintenance are key considerations.
Part of our Knauf AMF ceiling tiles range, this 600mm x 600mm tile has a stepped edge that allows the tile face to sit below the visible grid, creating a defined reveal around each panel. Browse our tegular edge ceiling tiles for other tiles with this recessed grid appearance.
Check your edge detail before ordering: This is the Tegular24 version for 24mm exposed grid. It is different from the flat Board Edge version and the Tegular15 version for 15mm grid. For replacement work, match the existing tile's edge profile, thickness and grid width as well as its size.
Key Features
- Tegular24 rebated edge: Creates a stepped ceiling finish beneath a compatible 24mm exposed grid.
- Smooth anti-microbial surface: Helps limit the growth of a broad range of bacteria and fungi.
- Practical cleaning: Suitable for dry, damp and wet cloth cleaning, with resistance to disinfectants.
- Durable surface: Water-repellent and scratch-resistant.
- Hygiene performance: ISO 4 clean room classification and Zone 4 risk performance to the standards listed below.
- Light reflectance: 88% to help distribute light within the room.
- Humidity resistance: Up to 95% RH.
- Reaction to fire: Euroclass A2-s1, d0.
- Pack quantity: 16 tiles, providing 5.76m² nominal coverage before cutting and wastage.
What Does Tegular24 Mean?
Tegular24 describes a rebated ceiling tile edge designed to sit on grid with a 24mm-wide exposed face. The tile's perimeter rests on the grid while the main tile face projects below it, giving the ceiling more depth than a flat board edge finish.
Choose this version when your project requires a reveal-style ceiling on a compatible 24mm grid. For existing ceilings, check a removed tile before ordering: a 600mm x 600mm module alone does not identify the correct edge detail.
Applications and Hygiene Performance
Mediguard Plain is designed for healthcare environments and laboratories where a cleanable, anti-microbial ceiling surface is required. It is an option within our hygienic ceiling tiles and hospital ceiling tiles ranges.
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Medical clinics and treatment areas
- Laboratories and research facilities
- Controlled environments requiring specified hygiene performance
The manufacturer declares ISO 4 clean room performance to EN ISO 14644-1 and compliance with Zone 4 Very High Risk requirements to NF S 90-351:2013. Individual rooms also have specific cleanability and air leakage requirements, so these classifications do not automatically make the tile suitable for every Zone 4 room. Confirm the complete ceiling specification against the intended application.

Performance figures are manufacturer-declared values for Mediguard Plain under the relevant test conditions. Euroclass A2-s1, d0 is a reaction-to-fire classification, not a fire-resistance duration for a complete ceiling assembly.
Anti-Microbial Surface and Cleaning
Mediguard Plain's surface helps limit microbial growth and supports routine cleaning in hygiene-sensitive spaces. The manufacturer's datasheet lists testing against bacteria and fungi including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis.
Tiles can be cleaned using dry, damp or wet cloths. Follow Knauf's cleaning guidance when selecting disinfectants and cleaning methods.

Use this tile with a compatible 24mm exposed grid system arranged for 600mm x 600mm modules. Explore our AMF ceiling grid systems and Donn suspended ceiling grids, selecting the appropriate 24mm system for your project.
Grid selection should also account for loading, perimeter details and the environmental requirements of the room. Keep grid components within a compatible manufacturer-approved system.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Mediguard Plain Tegular24 and Board Edge?
Tegular24 has a rebated edge that allows the main tile face to sit below a compatible 24mm exposed grid, creating a reveal around each panel. Board Edge has a square edge and produces a flatter lay-in ceiling finish. Match the existing edge profile when replacing tiles.
What grid does Knauf Mediguard Plain Tegular24 fit?
This version is designed for a compatible 24mm exposed suspended ceiling grid with 600mm x 600mm modules. It is not the Tegular15 version for 15mm grid. Check the grid system and tile edge before ordering.
How many tiles are in a box and what area do they cover?
Each box contains 16 tiles for 600mm x 600mm ceiling modules, providing 5.76m² nominal coverage before cutting and wastage. Allow additional tiles for perimeter cuts and any spares required.
Are Mediguard Plain Tegular24 tiles suitable for hospitals and clean rooms?
Mediguard Plain is designed for healthcare environments and laboratories, with ISO 4 clean room classification and Zone 4 risk performance to NF S 90-351:2013. Suitability depends on the room's specific cleaning, air leakage and ceiling system requirements; Zone 4 compliance alone does not establish suitability for every Zone 4 room.
How do you clean Knauf Mediguard Plain ceiling tiles?
Mediguard Plain supports dry, damp and wet cloth cleaning and is resistant to disinfectants. Follow Knauf's cleaning guidance for suitable products and methods.
What acoustic performance does Mediguard Plain provide?
Manufacturer-declared figures are αw = 0.20 (L), absorption Class E, NRC 0.20, sound attenuation Dn,f,w = 35dB and sound reduction Rw = 19dB. These describe different acoustic properties; sound attenuation is not the same as sound absorption.
