What Ceiling Tiles Are Best for Kitchens?

Choosing the right ceiling tiles for a kitchen is not just about appearance. Kitchens introduce moisture, grease, cleaning requirements and fire considerations — and the wrong tile will fail quickly.

Domestic Kitchens

In most domestic kitchens, ceiling tiles are chosen based on appearance, but they still need to meet basic safety and moisture resistance requirements.

Commercial Kitchens

Commercial kitchens are completely different. Hygiene, cleanability and fire safety are critical. Standard mineral fibre tiles will not last in this environment.

You should be looking at wipeable, hygienic or vinyl-faced ceiling tiles specifically designed for these conditions.

Fire Performance

Kitchen ceilings must not contribute to fire spread. Many systems require A1 or A2 fire ratings or full system fire performance.

Cleanability & Hygiene

Kitchen ceilings must be easy to clean and resistant to grease and moisture. The best option is usually a vinyl-faced ceiling tile.
